Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (other online)
On Monday night a friend tweeted a reference to Ron Burgundy and I thought it was time to give that one a try. I saw this movie, originally, in the theater and didn’t really enjoy it. All my buddies thought it was hilarious (which usually means that my lack of enjoyment was more the situation that I saw it in rather than the movie itself - how I came to that realization is a topic for it’s own post) so I knew that it was worth another go.
It took nearly 9 years but I got back to it. I had the movie on in the background but definitely found it more humorous on this go round. It took three nights to watch the whole thing (it’s been a busy week).
First off, I didn’t realize how many little catch phrases, jokes and memes that I’m aware of came from this movie. I’m sure they’re all improvised, how else do you come up with things like “I love lamp” and “I’m going to punch you in the ovary”.
The five-way fight scene between the various news teams was definitely my favorite part of the movie - seem like something Mel Brooks would’ve come up with (“Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident”).
