The past year or so I've been receiving a daily e-mail from "Inside Indiana Business" that I really enjoying reading to get a brief on the happenings around the state. However, I had to chuckle at this the other day:
Bear Wear Popular Even in Colts' Home State
While Indianapolis Colts' gear continues to fly off the shelves in central Indiana, Bear wear seems to be more popular in the northwest region of the state. Retailers in that area report that most customers are backers of the Chicago Bears. NFL officials say shoppers spend about $100 million every year on Super Bowl merchandise. The NFL licenses 600 products with the Super Bowl logo. Dick's Sporting Goods Cashier Irene Tinoco works in Lake County. With Chicago less than one hour away from Merrillville, she says Bears' loyalty is probably connected to the city's nearby location. Tonoco was asked what the most popular items appear to be in the region.
Truly breaking news that the part of Indiana adjacent to Chicago "seem" to be bigger Bears fans than Colts fans. Good work by Ms. Tinoco getting to the bottom of this mystery.
